The assessment recommended four operational strategies to advance through to the first phase of the project delivery pipeline.

As part of a team, ETG provided travel demand modeling support for the I-80 Design Alternatives Assessment (DAA) Project. ETG applied MTC’s activity-based Travel Model One model to generate traffic forecasts for various alternatives in the 2026 opening year. The project alternatives analyzed include:

  1. Mix of Single & Dual Express Lanes
  2. Access Restrictions
  3. Single Express Lanes
  4. Dual Express Lanes

ETG then generated subarea trip tables for the corridor to support subsequent dynamic traffic assignment (DTA) analyses of all project alternatives, including hours of operations.
